A TRIBUTE TO MY MOM AND THE PLACE SHE CALLED HOME
MOMENTS:
Yesterday, my mom was laid to rest in South Eastern, Idaho, in a small corner cemetery surrounded by farmland that goes as far as the eyes can see.
She was the daughter of a farmer, and a wife of one too.
Barely a mile away from the cemetery is the home where she grew up, and one and a half dozen miles away from that is where I grew up.
Idaho was my mom’s home, and it was once mine too.
Seeing the familiar beauty of the wind swept fields, dusted in a light layering of snow filled my soul and reminded me of where I came from.
The fertile land that has sustained my family from one generation to the next, now holds within it, my mom’s precious body.
I love and honor her, and the hallowed ground in which she rest.
My mom is in me, and I am in her.
Please hold her safe, Idaho.
